About Me

  • People say I'm:
    friendly, outgoing, unpretentious, intuitive, empathetic/sympathetic, and a bit wound up sometimes! Type "A" Personality, so I'm told, but really, you can't put anyone in a box... you'd have to catch me first! ;-D
  • Describe Yourself:
    I'm a 5'2" Bottle-Blonde Baby Boomer (say THAT fast 10 times!!), who absolutely loves traveling and discovering new places and people. I love the beach, rafting down rivers, boating on and swimming in lakes, walking around ponds, discovering sea life in tidal pools, scuba diving in the ocean...just sit me in some water, and I'm happy! My hobbies are digital photography, underwater photography, scuba diving, collecting all things nautical/tropical for the house, avid reading, collecting/finding good costume jewelry (this last item is more of an addiction than a hobby!). I still have lots to learn about shooting manually, but hope to learn a great deal more as time goes on from my Gather friendships!
  • On Gather, I'm Looking For ...:
    friendships, inspiration, day-to-day wisdom, perhaps some networking - and some instruction on how to shoot manually with my my new Canon 40D (bought 9/25/08 ~ Yahoo!) I took an intermediate digital SLR photography class at our local community college at night last spring, and learned a lot, but now to keep all that information in my head! I've also joined the Northeast Texas Photography Club recently, where I am also getting a lot of great tips and experience. It's great that all these things are available! I highly recommend those of you who are amateur photographers to start taking a class if you haven't learned to shoot manually yet, so you can really see yourself start to grow and improve. I really have had to make myself begin to learn these manual settings, finally, but I'm glad I'm doing it!

Hi Nancy, Just read your uplifting words about the article I submitted recently. Thank you so much!! I agree with you about Oprah. God has given her so much influence and open doors. It's a shame her mind is so closed to truth. But, yes I have prayed for her because she could use her platform for God. But then, if she did, wouldn't the media turn against her? She needs the media to keep the interest coming in. On my profile, I just joined the other day. I will try, soon to get that filled in. I've never joined groups like this before, it's my first. You commented you'd like to know more about my writings. I don't know if I can leave a website address or not here. I have just a few other articles in my newsletter section, but I'm trying to find time to write more. thank you for the ping. I have an old canon, a Minolta 5, an Olympus Digital SLR E300 and currently have a Nikon D80. Photography is a pleasant release from the pressures of humanity. And even better with digital SLRs. I can hardly wait until I can afford a 12 megapixel camera. They just keep getting better all the time! Have a great weekend.
